How it works
This process can vary based on the complexity of the project, the location, and any unique circumstances. Working with experienced building designers, engineers, and consultants can help navigate these variables of architectural design and the permitting process in Victoria.

Design
After meeting with you on site to confirm the project brief and design preferences, an initial concept design is created for your review and feedback. The design phase includes full floor plans and elevations to help you visualise the project's finished appearance. In the case of extensions or renovations, we will also carry out a site measure of the existing building to start the design stage.

Town Planning
In some cases Council may require a town planning permit application. If this is needed for your project, we can supply the required plans and other supporting documentation for your council submission, as well as discuss with council directly to ensure everything complies with the applicable planning schemes, neighbourhood guidelines, and community considerations for the area.

Working Drawings
Once you are happy with the final design, full working drawings are produced with all of the details your builder will need for construction. Specifications for external materials and finishes are also documented where needed.
These plans are then sent through to external consultants such as structural engineers and energy assessors to finalise their reports and plans ready for building permit application.

Building Permit
The full working drawings and external consultants' documentation are submitted to a council or private building surveyor for building permit assessment, to ensure it complies with relevant building codes and regulations.
Wrenlo Drafting provides full assistance through the building permit application process to ensure any additional information the building surveyor may request is provided quickly for easy permit approval.
With the application approved and the building permit issued, construction can now begin.
